Dr. Joshua J. Denhalter is principle centered, growth focused, and chases after excellence. As a change leader he seeks after meaningful and lasting change in himself, others, and our communities. As a leader in the education industry, he brings a unique perspective that includes experience in both higher education and secondary education. As a USMC veteran, entrepreneur, avid reader, and with extensive formal education, he brings thought provoking inquiry and significant substance to every environment.
Dr. Denhalter wears many professional hats. He is a Change Consultant, working with organizations such as the Partnership for Workforce Innovation, Phoenix Union School District, Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce, and others in a variety of backgrounds. He is the Head Football Coach for the Gila River Hawks, which competes in the Hohokam Junior College Athletic Conference. He is a writer contributing to a range of different publications and websites. He is involved in education, a former HS teacher, and has worked as an adjunct professor for several universities.
While earning his Doctorate in Education in Transformational Leadership from Concordia University he developed a passion and expertise in change theory and application. His dissertation focused on student-athletes whose football program was eliminated and experienced significant negative impact. His study used the Kubler-Ross Change Model and the Transformative Learning Change Theory as its conceptual-theoretical framework and examined the data through a social constructivist interpretive lens. To house his study and further the evidence-based understanding regarding the significant positive impact and opportunities football creates, Dr. Denhalter founded the non-profit organization Lost Yards. He is currently writing a book on the change management philosophy he developed, I.D.D.E.A. (Intentional, Detailed, Disciplined, Evaluated, Adjusted), to help enrich change management practices and create transformational change in our communities.
Dr. Denhalter lives in Gilbert, AZ. His favorite thing to do is simply to be with his two boys, Kyle and Levi. He also gains fulfillment from the purpose and joy he experiences within his professional pursuits. In his spare time he enjoys all things competitive, golf, lifting heavy things, hiking, climbing, reading, and chasing after adrenaline rushes. Something he believes in and his athletes often hear him say is “Be where your feet are”.
